Another solid performing StreetPilot GPS Unit January 7, 2009 Burgmicester (Pittsburgh) This is my third Garmin StreetPilot purchased for my family. The c580 is basically just a slightly upgraded version of the c550 that we purchased last year. While there are some imperfections in the directions in and around complex roadways - where new meet old - I would definitely purchase another. They are so easy to use that you take it out of the box and run it. The touch screen directions are user friendly, the spoken street names are easy to understand and follow. The only negative that I have is that there is not a charging device that can be used in the house to pre-charge the batteries. The only way that you can charge this unit is in the car - that re-charger is provided. But it still is an inconvenience when moving it between cars.
GPS Went bad in three days January 7, 2009 A. Dixit I had to return the item, the GPS went bad in three days. May be I was unlucky.
Not bad, but many of features don't work... January 6, 2009 DallasFaninDC (Virginia) I bought this item several months ago. The MSN adapter that comes with the unit has already broken. This renders many of unit's selling points useless. I read on the internet where the plug breaks often. Poorly made and a replacement antenna is over $100. Not a quality product in my opinion.
Garmin StreetPilot c580 GPS Navigator January 1, 2009 E. Brooks (Reston, VA) Very pleased with this navigator model. We take it with us whenever we go out of town. Recently visited relatives in small town near Little Rock, AR and also to Jacksonville, FL where we rented cars for both trips. This navigaor made it very easy for us to get around. Purchased it at a great price!
Problems December 30, 2008 joe-maryland (Stevensville, MD United States) The GPS works well except it sometimes flashes BRIGHT white. DANGEROUS at night. The MP3 player is OK, but it is no iPod and it has issues with 8GB SD cards. It seems to max out at 500 songs no matter how much space you have. MSN Direct Traffic is WORTHLESS. It hardly ever gets a signal on the Baltimore Beltway, let alone out in the country. The BlueTooth works OK, but sometimes needs a couple tries to sync up. Can't say if it is the GPS or the phone. Mine is going back.
